ControlScape 16 Zone Desktop Time Clock
Every ControlSCAPE system begins with a Controller, also known as our “Desktop Time Clock”. The Controller simply plugs into any 110V electrical outlet in the house and injects On/Off/Brighten/Dim signals into the electrical system when either it’s manual buttons are pressed or one of it’s internal timers automatically fires.
The signals ControlSCAPE generates contain two elements (addresses and commands), that enter the electrical system in the house through it’s own power cord. They then travel throughout the house searching for ControlSCAPE Receivers to command.
For example, a signal might be sent that says “Appliance Module 1, On”. While every ControlSCAPE Appliance Module, Dimmer, Receptacle, etc. in the house will see that “On” command, only Appliance Module 1 will react to it and turn on.
The Controller assigns these unique addresses to each Receiver during the guided setup of the system. No need for a laptop and programming software, ControlSCAPE is self-programming on your job site.
|Controller: Desktop Time Clock
The Desktop Time Clock Controller plugs into any electrical outlet in the house and injects commands into the electrical system. Yes, the Commands travel on the Romex right along with your 110V “juice”. These signals are encoded with two pieces of information:
1. Address: When the system is set up it guides you through the simple process of giving each Receiver on the project a unique Address.
2. Command: The Commands tell the Receivers what to do – On/Off/Brighten/Dim.
So the Controller injects signals into the power line that tell each Receiver (based on its Address) what to do (based on the Command).
This is the ControlSCAPE microprocessor-driven Desktop Time Clock. Designed specifically for the landscape lighting industry, this controller can fully automate up to 16 different ControlSCAPE Receivers at the same time. The Desktop Time Clock includes 8 built-in timers which can be activated at specific times or via sunrise or sunset (with offsets of plus or minus 128 minutes). The following is a sample of how the programming on a Desktop Time Clock my be set up:
Let’s assume there are 8 loads to be controlled – 4 landscape lighting transformers, front porch sconces, garage coach lights, and 2 sets of flood lights. In this case we’ll assume that the landscape lighting transformers are controlled with Appliance Module Receivers embedded in their housing. The other light loads are controlled by installing Dimmer/Switch Receivers. To set up lighting “scenes”, the Desktop Time Clock Controller is programmed by telling it what to do at what time of day. It may look something like this…

Customized lighting scenes include the ability to set intensities for any dimmable Receivers. In the above example Timer 1 turned on all 8 Receivers. However, four of those Receivers were controlling house lights (2 sets of floods, a set of coach lights and a set of sconces). In this case Timer 1, while still turning on all Receivers, may tell the flood lights to only come on to a 30% intensity and the coach lights and sconces to only come on to 50%. This truly allows for the creation and control of perfect, repeatable nighttime masterpieces.
